Synopsis by Augustine Chay
Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, Glynn Turman, Colman Domingo, and Michael Potts star in director George C. Wolfe’s adaptation of August Wilson’s 1982 play of the same name. A contest of wills unfolds in a recording studio in 1920s Chicago. Ma Rainey, the legendary "Mother of the Blues," clashes with a young and ambitious trumpeter over the artistic direction of the lead track for her forthcoming album.
