Review by Buzz McClain

Love Goggles ends with a disclaimer from director Tony Travis that reads: "This movie was not designed to bash women or males but to give an honest portrayal of relationships so that we may alert the innocent and expose the guilty in order to spark change." Don't worry, Travis, no one is going to be offended by your film, unless they happen to rent it thinking it might be an enlightening way to spend a hour-and-a-half. It is not. The film is so ridiculously constructed as to defy the basic vocabulary of cinema; one wonders if the director even watches movies, because this one is so seriously flawed -- in the editing, scripting, casting, acting, and probably even the on-set catering -- that is had to be made by someone who has never paid attention to films. The nearly incoherent story is told in a choppy, dialogue-driven montage held together by a smooth R&B soundtrack, and the music is the best thing going. The film doesn't so much end as it reaches the bottom. Former Onyx frontman Sticky Fingaz makes a cameo. Rapper Q-Tip has a featured role, but his apparently improvised lines are amateurish. There are worse movies, but not many.
