Director Paolo Sorrentino’s larger-than-life biopic fictionalizes the attempts of an unscrupulous group of politicians and businessmen to curry favor with media tycoon and Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, between 2006 and 2009. As Berlusconi’s second marriage to Veronica Lario falls apart, his personal and professional indiscretions threaten to undermine his long political career.
