Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man decides he must turn his back on a remarkable life (or does he?) in this offbeat independent comedy from director Zack Godshall. Byron (Paul Batiste) is a man who has lived a life of joy and pleasure in which he's made love to dozens of beautiful women and experienced the heady thrills of all that the world has to offer. However, after hearing a sermon on television, Byron realizes there is more to life than mere indulgence, and he turns his back on love and sex to take on a spiritual pilgrimage. Of course, since Byron is an overweight and ordinary looking middle aged man, some of his claims about his life seem hard to swallow, especially since he's currently living with his ex-wife (Renee King) who makes no secret of her dislike of him, as well as her current boyfriend and two daughters. Is Byron's story real or just a product of his vivid imagination? Shot on a budget of just $1,000 with a non-professional cast, Lord Byron received its world premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.
