Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Austrian Liebling der Welt (Beloved of the World) served to introduce actress Nadine Gray to the screen. Gray plays turn-of-the-century musical comedy star Gaby Desroses, a thinly disguised takeoff of real-life entertainer Gaby Deslys. In 1910, Deslys' romantic misadventures led to the abdication of a European king. So too does the fictional Gaby Desroses figure into the downfall of the equally fictional King Raoul (O.W. Fischer). Waiting in the wings is Gaby's faithful "commoner" beau Harry Belmont (Siefried Breuer). Surprisingly, this operetta-like concoction contains only two songs.
