Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Lena (Fira Kanter) is now living in Israel, one of the many Russian Jews who were allowed to emigrate and begin a new life. Her husband was not so lucky, and for the past several years, Lena has been one of the chief international spokespersons for the right of Russian Jews to emigrate to Israel. Her constant activity in that regard has left her without a personal life -- she is always in the public spotlight. She studies Hebrew in her spare time, and when she goes to her professor to ask for help in creating a brochure to free her husband, they strike up a relationship that soon leads to intimacy. Both are caught in a turmoil of conflicting emotions as the teacher prepares to leave for several years after his own recent divorce, and Lena has to come to grips with her commitment to her cause and her husband.
