Despite what one might feel an hour into it, Keys to Tulsa does, indeed, end. Its aimless and muddled 113 minutes simply seem like a thousand. It's a shame, too. With a script by Twin Peaks scribe Harley Peyton and a more-than-talented ensemble cast featuring the likes of Eric Stoltz, James Spader, and James Coburn, the potential existed for an outstanding film. What we get instead is a mess that gives one the feeling that the top-notch actors involved were doing someone a favor. Stoltz seems as confused as the audience in most of the scenes, seemingly wondering where it's all headed, Spader is just plain ridiculous as tough-guy Ronnie, and a subplot involving Cameron Diaz appears to made up on the spot. There's really nothing to recommend about this film.
