Like the other productions in the Just the Facts: World War II series, the events and decisions documented are based on actual events and statistics, and claim not to have a rose-colored or otherwise biased version of history. In Why Pearl Harbor, the focus revolves around the events preceding the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, and includes insight on the various strategic decisions and snafus on America's part that made Pearl Harbor so tactically important for the Japanese. Other topics include the United States' then-isolationism, Japan's invasion of Manchuria, and how various policies and decisions made by Franklin D. Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin, and Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto contributed to the catastrophic event. Finally, the video takes a look on the wave of patriotism and increased resolve that resounded throughout America after the attacks.
