Synopsis by Matthew Tobey
Both renowned and ill-fated, cellist Jacqueline du Pré passed away in 1987, but her legacy lives on in this collection of two complete performances. Released by Opus Arte, Jacqueline du Pré in Portrait features renditions of Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor Op. 85 with the New Philharmonia Orchestra and Beethoven's Piano Trio No. 5 in D major Op. 70 No. 1 (The Ghost) with pianist Daniel Barenboim and violinist Pinchas Zukerman.
