Synopsis by Mark Deming

A couple's efforts to live a simple and traditional life could be their undoing in this drama from Dutch filmmaker Sander Burger. Tako Hunting (Dragan Bakema) is a man in his mid-twenties trying to decide what to do with his life; he's been an enthusiastic student of economics, but when his father dies, he impulsively chooses to return to the small town where he was raised and takes over his dad's business, a bicycle shop. Tako also marries his longtime sweetheart, Sandra (Maria Kraakman), and the two settle into a new life of cozy domesticity. However, though the two insist that they're happy, it becomes clear that something is not right, and their relationship becomes more problematic when Sandra learns she's pregnant. Sandra struggled with an eating disorder when she was young, and now that she's expecting she's stopped eating; Tako and Sandra's father (Hans Hoes) begin to worry for the safety of the unborn child, while Tako isn't sure how (or if) to save his marriage. Dragan Bakema and Maria Kraakman, who play the troubled couple in Hunting & Zn. (aka Hunting & Sons), are happily married in real life.
