Buzz Barton was fairly popular in the late silent era and he was still acting as late as 1932. But director J. P. McGowan could do little with a miniscule budget and Master Barton's efforts are for the most part wasted. The paltry budget notwithstanding, Human Targets is pleasant enough juvenile fare with a surprisingly inoffensive turn by the often maligned African-American comedian Fred Toones, aka Snowflake. Toones, who even gets to sing a pleasant little song, eschews the usual stereotypical nonsense in favor of action this time around, and even saves the day in a well-paced finale.
