Not everyone was a fan of the first movie in this long-running science- fiction franchise, but even those who loved it pretty much detested this poorly thought out and badly executed sequel. Featuring a plot that makes little sense and ideas about the origins of the film's central characters that either spoil or contradict their mystery, it's a major hack job all around. Even stylish former music video director Russell Mulcahy fails to bring the splash and energy to this follow-up that served him so well in the original. Incomprehensible subplots involving curses, the ozone layer, and corporate politics blend with a leisurely pace to result in such a sour stew of a picture that it's no wonder later incarnations of the Highlander mythos scrapped the events that occur in this film, preferring to start over fresh.
