Review by Hans J. Wollstein

Haunted Ranch remains a solid Range Busters entry -- the 20th in the series -- even though the Wild West haunted house melodramatics have been done more persuasively in earlier efforts, such as John Wayne's Haunted Gold (1934). (As in that minor classic, an African-American, Fred "Snowflake" Toones, supplies much of the "scaredy-cat" comic relief.) Ace stuntman Dave Sharpe's sudden absence is explained by him joining Theodore Roosevelt's "Rough Riders." The replacement, Rex Lease, is fine as far as it goes, but the following series entry nevertheless featured a new lineup consisting of the returning Ray "Crash" Corrigan, Dennis Moore, and Max Terhune, the latter, as always, joined by his ventriloquist dummy, Elmer Sneezeweed.
