Review by Fred Beldin

Michael Myers clearly enters the realm of the supernatural in this inevitable sequel. Not only does he prove himself impervious to bullets, locked doors, and fire, but he's suddenly more cunning as well, expanding his repertoire past simple stabbing and strangling into utilizing various medical instruments handy at the hospital where this story is set. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is still the target in this film, though for a drugged stab-wound patient with a cracked shinbone, she's even more gutsy than she was in the previous installment, faring much better than a parade of able-bodied nurses who get dispatched with relative ease. While not the suspense-driven classic that Halloween is, there's really no way the sequel could match the tension of the original: the main characters are already well aware that Myers is at large. The cat-and-mouse game that Myers played with Laurie in the first film is over, and nothing remains except the kill. Halloween 2 is probably best left to devoted fans who want to watch the two films back-to-back, for a three hour tour of the dark streets of Haddonfield, IL.
