On this lively cable TV gardening series, two neighbors per episode compete to improve their yards within a period of eight hours and with a budget of 1,000 dollars per neighbor. Both combatants were assisted by a professional land designer, who allegedly had no stake in the outcome. In keeping with the lighthearted approach to the material, the individual episode titles invoked images of an epic prizefight: "Coleman vs. Garcia," "Visconti vs. Barbrow," and so on. Ground Rules! premiered March 28, 2003, on the HGTV cable network.
