Review by Fred Beldin

Good Morning and Goodbye is an often overlooked gem in the Russ Meyer canon, a fast-paced romp through bedroom politics. Screenwriter John E. Moran serves up some deliciously verbose dialogue that spills from the characters' mouths like wild, ribald poetry. Meyer's films always depend on these verbal gymnastics, but Good Morning and Goodbye ladles on an extra thick helping of bizarre double entendres, raunchy hillbilly argot, and nearly indecipherable hipster slang ("If you were to buy all that dialogue that cat's running down to you, you'd be so financially nude that you probably couldn't afford this scene...except at home, and that's pretty groovy."). This rich language surrounds a standard Meyer collection of heaving bosoms, nude frolicking, and macho fistfights, with the inspired addition of some supernatural lovemaking. While the film might not offer as much sheer action or visual fireworks as better-known Meyer classics, Good Morning and Goodbye makes up for it with a script that buzzes with lyrical energy.
