In Albuquerque, a young artisan named Ching Yazzie (Lydell Mitchell), who builds handmade longboards, finds his future filled with uncertainty when his partner, Dawn (MorningStar Angeline), reveals she will be moving to northern California to begin a performance art program. Dawn's announcement and Ching's subsequent profession of love spur a chain reaction of events that test the stability of their relationship and reveal the fragility of their identities as they reconnect with who they truly are.
