Synopsis by Emily Nakanishi
Growing up in a troubled neighborhood in St. Louis, 17-year-old Daje Shelton struggles to come into her own. Daje is determined to thrive, but in addition to facing normal teen issues, she also must reckon with the changing sociopolitical climate around her as the St. Louis area deals with the aftermath of the Mike Brown shooting in nearby Ferguson, MO. This documentary from director Jeremy S. Levine shows the strength of Daje and others like her who face a multitude of challenges in today's world.
