Set in Japan, this documentary film follows Yuichi Ishii, an entrepreneur whose business involves playing-acting the role of whichever family member his clients require as a rent-a-relative type exchange. One particular narrative sees Yuichi play the role of missing father to 12-year-old Mahoki Tamimoto. Directed and written by celebrated documentary creator Werner Herzog, this particular feature film deals with love, loss and closure in a contemporary Japanese setting.
