Synopsis by Kyle Lavigne
Russian director and co-writer Alexey German Jr.’s feature film unfolds over the course of six days in the life of 20th century dissident writer Sergei Dovlatov. In November 1971, Dovlatov is an unfulfilled writer in Leningrad; his writings are routinely rejected by the official media. When he learns of the discovery of 30 children’s skeletons from World War II, he decides to pursue the literary black market to convey his countercultural perspectives.
