Shortly after the end of the Second World War, a young and dauntless communist schoolteacher befriends and finally makes good citizens of a gang of young toughs of high-school age. At first they don't do much except make trouble around town with their boyish pranks. But when they throw some live cartridges of ammunition into a fire, causing an explosion that accidentally kills the mayor's son, they are separated and dealt with accordingly.
