Review by Buzz McClain

Man-about-town Brad (Adam Baratta) has commitment problems stemming from the death of his mother. He has his way with many lovely women until he meets Yuki (Jennifer Tung), whose exotic beauty and enigmatic vulnerability draw him out of his shell. But a previous girlfriend, Jenny (Carrie Stevens), seems to be trying to sabotage the relationship by seducing him and setting him up with other women, including the beautiful Ingrid (Victoria Silvstedt). Brad lapses in his fidelity, only to realize how powerful his love for Yuki is, and he rushes to win her back. Little does he know, his efforts will only cost him more than his heart. Originally called She Said I Love You, Cruel Game spends more than three-quarters of its screen time developing a rather standard romance-novel story before shifting to, in script-talk, "the big reveal" that sets up the hasty final scene. It has its moments – and the gorgeous cast is very easy on the eyes – but the overly complicated fantasy is too lightweight to add up to much, and the ending is less than tidy. Also know that nominal top-line star Jennifer Rubin has a limited screen time as a therapist.
