This distinctly 1980's comedy is a goofy yet crowd-pleasing piece of work. The plot of D.C. Cab feels like an extended-length sitcom crossed with that school of Animal House-derived "slob comedy" that was so popular during the early 1980's. The story basically throws situations and characters at the wall to see what sticks with the audience but it has a genial, sometimes amusingly raunchy style that manages to pull it through. The real attraction is the eclectic collection of actors that drives this ensemble piece: Adam Baldwin and Max Gail make likeable everyman-style heroes while Mr. T shows off the eccentric yet macho charisma that would make him a star on The A-Team and Gary Busey steals every scene he is in as the most manic of the cabbies. Director Joel Schumacher keeps the proceedings light and hangs back so his sprawling cast can do their thing. The end result is a trifle - but it's fairly charming as far as trifles go and is likely to amuse anyone looking to get an 1980's nostalgia fix.
