Synopsis by Olivia Cantor
The documentary Creem: America's Only Rock 'n' Roll Magazine tells the story of the magazine’s inception until its last issue in 1989. Founded by Barry Kramer in 1969, it was able to go from being an underground paper to having nationwide recognition in a few years, giving immense exposure to then up and coming artists such as David Bowie, Lou Reed, Blondie, and Roxy Music. The film showcases the magazine’s impact on music and culture through interviews with former staff and artists like Joan Jett, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, and Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament. Directed by Scott Crawford.
