Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Domineering former actress Diane (Bernadette Peters) and her teenage daughter Alice (Rachel Brosnahan) entertain dreams of a better life while battling depression and financial destitution in a small American town locked in the grip of the 1980s recession. Faced with the bitter truth that their situation isn't likely to improve anytime soon, the desperate pair find their fierce determination slowly crumbling under the crushing weight of reality.
