Charles Manson Superstar takes a documentary look at Charles Manson and his unhealthy "family" of cult members and ruthless killers. Famous family members include Lynette Frome, Leslie Van Houten, and Patricia Krenwinkel. One of the group's most vicious crimes was the murder of pregnant actress Sharon Tate in Hollywood. Attorney Vincent Bugliosi prosecuted the case. The program pieces together archival news footage, police photographs, an uncensored interview with Manson himself, and more to tell the dark story of an insane man with a mission.
