Most franchises up the thrills, the stakes, and the budgets with each installment. Not so this Z-grade horror-action series, which grows more schlocky and generic with each iteration. Carnosaur 3: Primal Species reduces the formula to its most basic elements -- interchangeable soldiers being chased by interchangeable rubber dinosaurs. There's really no much more to say. The flick is so nondescript that it's impossible even to identify one specific mainstream movie that it's knocking off. Oh, vestigial elements of Jurassic Park and Aliens still pop up, just to provide continuity with Carnosaur and Carnosaur 2. But they're just parts of a boring, repetitive mish-mash, devoid of any low-budget moxie. One bright side, at least the three movies, taken together, give cable networks a low-cost, six-hour programming block.
