Synopsis by Mark Deming

Two in-laws who struggle with mixed feelings for one another find their differences stretched to the breaking point in this semi-improvised drama from the Netherlands. Dicky (Dicky Kilian) works with a small circus that travels from town to town, performing for the locals and making a little money along the way. Dicky works side by side with Willy (Willy Soeurt), who was married to her late sister, as well as his son Timo (Timo Soeurt), and while family ties bind them together, there's a certain amount of unresolved tension between them. The simmering animosity comes to a boil when Dicky becomes involved with Tarek (Tarek Hannoudi), an Arab recently hired as pat of the circus's set up crew. Directed by Eugenie Jansen, Calimucho was an official selection at the 2009 Hollywood Film Festival.
