Synopsis by Augustine Chay
Director/co-writer Dan Pritzker’s biopic spotlights the legacy of Charles Joseph "Buddy" Bolden, an African-American cornetist who is recognized as a pioneer of New Orleans jazz. Gary Carr plays the titular character, while Eric LaRay Harvey plays his inventive and deceptive new manager Bartley. Buddy masters the art of showmanship and gains a wide audience, but misfortune eventually befalls him.
