Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man struggles to make something of himself on the right side of the law in this gritty independent drama. Gary "Blue" Meekins (Don Wallace) had to fend for himself on the mean streets of New York City after the death of his parents when he was young, and through necessity he learned to be a fighter. Blue is looking for a way to earn some money when he meets up with his old friends Chip (Michael Ralph) and Dutch (Casey Lee), who tell him they're planning to rip off a notorious drug dealer and could use his help. During the robbery, Blue realizes he's been lied to and his victims are an ordinary family; he resolves to go straight, and with the help of trainer China Banks (Henry G. Sanders) he learns how to take his street fighting skills into the boxing ring. Blue also befriends Carmen (Daya Vaidya), a neighborhood girl who is struggling to get out from under a violent relationship and a drug habit. With Blue's help, Carmen kicks drugs and strikes out on her own, but he finds making a name of himself as a fighter is even harder than he imagined, and he finds it increasingly hard to ignore Courtney Brown (Charles Malik Whitfield), a cousin who offers him a number of illegal business opportunities. Blue was an official selection at the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival.
