Synopsis by Mark Deming

A teenage boy falls for a girl who cruelly takes advantage of his good nature in this drama from Iran. Sixteen-year-old Malek (Younes Ghazali) was left to fend for himself after the death of his parents, and he works alongside a handful of friends who serve as baggage handlers, carrying heavy packages for tourists and visitors arriving from Iraq. While chasing after customers, Malek often crosses paths with Noura (Elnaz Shakerdoost), a pretty girl a few years older than himself. Noura earns her keep by helping strangers find their way through the city and acting as a go-fer for Arab visitors. Malek is strongly infatuated with Noura, and it isn't hard for her to tell after he helps her move some bags for one of her clients. Noura strings Malek along and allows him to believe that she has feelings for him, but in reality she's duped him into taking part in a smuggling operation that should help her earn some serious money but could land him in jail. Dar Maine Abrha (aka Among The Clouds) was the first feature film from director Rouhollah Hejazi, and received an award for Best Debut Feature at the 2008 Fajr Film Festival.
