Synopsis by Jinko Labitag
Metlakatla, Alaska’s last native reserve, is home to the Tsimshian Indians. For hundreds of years, two distinct traditions have defined their community: fishing and basketball. Alaskan Nets is a documentary film that centers on two cousins’ journey in leading the local team to their first shot at the state championship in more than 30 years. In the aftermath of an unimaginable tragedy, a basketball title has the ability to breathe new life back to the small town. Directed by Jeff Harasimowicz.
