Born Maude Walters, Polly Walters was one of those blonde starlets who played wisecracking telephone operators and other dizzy dames in early Warner Bros. talkies. She may have remained as anonymous as, say, Renee Whitney or Mae Madison, who performed the same kind of duties at the studio, had it not been for Broadway and a starring role in the hit show She Loves Me Not (1933). Walters was also in The Body Beautiful (1935), with Arlene Francis, but that play collapsed after only four performances.
