Science Fiction » Psychological Sci-Fi
Psychological sci-fi films are dramas or thrillers occuring in a science fiction setting. Often the focus is on the character's inner struggle dealing with the political or technological forces at large. This ranges from touching alien communication (Contact, Close Encounters of the Third Kind) to dark mind games (A Clockwork Orange, Second). The most common form of this hybrid genre is the future dystopia film (1984, A Handmaid's Tale, Fahrenheit 451, ect.), in which a totalitarian state attempts to contol the individual's will.
