On the planet Zi, a line of biomechanical robots called Zoids have become the chief mode of transportation and war. When a boy named Van is chased by two bandits piloting Zoids, he ducks into an old building that turns out to be an abandoned lab. What he finds there is a powerful Zoid in the shape of a dragon, whom he calls Zeke, and a mysterious girl named Fiona who has no memory of her past. Now this once average kid is on a mission with his new friends to discover the secrets of the past and the government's plans for the future. Could Van, Zeke, and Fiona be the ones to stop a war that threatens the whole planet?
