Synopsis by Mark Deming

Twenty-four stories play out over the course of twenty-four hours in this ambitious thriller from Poland. During the span of one day, Zero follows two dozen different stories taking place in the same large city, moving from one tale to another seemingly at random but with the various bits often revealing a symbiotic relationship between these strangers. The characters include a suspicious businessman who wants to prove his wife is cheating on him, the detective he's hired to follow her, an unstable adult filmmaker addicted to drugs, his girlfriend and leading lady who has learned she's expecting a baby, a male prostitute looking for a stable relationship, a emotionally troubled salesman, a family trying to raise the money for their son's medical treatment, the doctor who is supposed to operate on the ailing boy and an elderly woman who wants a lover. Zero (the title refers to the circle of a clock's dial) was the first feature film from director Pawel Borowski.
