Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Zappatore is the story of a young man who can't stay away from the gaming tables. In the face of mounting gambling debts, the boy's father sells their ancestral home. Even so, our hero's sweetheart remains faithful, assuming that he'll turn himself around -- but when he doesn't, she walks out on him, as does everyone else. Only in the final moments of the story does the boy undergo his long-overdue reformation, whereupon he sets everything right in near-record time. Advertised as an all-talkie, Zappatore is mostly a silent film with a smattering of musical sequences. Tenor Gustavo Serano, who plays the leading role, also directed.
