Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
A marriage of convenience that turns into a marriage of two people in love is the focus of this melodrama set during World War II. The story begins in Central Asia where Igor (Igor Kostolevsky) has been sent, along with his theatrical troupe, to entertain and distract people and soldiers from the larger war. Olga (Natalia Belokhvostikova) is working as a nurse in the local clinic and awakens the sympathy of Igor once he learns that she is suffering from malaria. The two strike up a friendship, then Igor finds out that married couples are allowed back into Moscow. In order to help cure Olga's malarial attacks, Igor talks her into a marriage of convenience, and she reluctantly agrees, thereby setting the stage for the possibility of their impending romance to begin.
