In a standard melodrama of misguided love set in China during World War II, a young, wealthy boy (Ling Dingfeng) is provided with a new governess (Yan Hulshan) whose presence goes far to rein in his wild behavior. Infatuated with the beautiful governess himself, the boy takes action when he discovers that she has a secret lover. He first makes friends with the lover and then introduces him to a charming local actress -- and sure enough, the lover abandons the governess as he loses his heart to the actress. But the story does not end here, because the boy has forgotten an important factor in his plan.
