Synopsis by Clare Perez-Izaguirre Lopez
Based on the 1992 novel Yardie by Victor Headley, the narrative begins with D (Antwayne Eccleston), a young Jamaican living in 1970s Kingston, Jamaica whose life is sent into disarray after the murder of his older brother and DJ, Jerry Dread (Everaldo Creary). Ten years on, D (now played by Aml Ameen) is working for the larger-than-life character of drug lord King Fox (Sheldon Shepherd). Sent to Hackney, London to smuggle cocaine, D finds his brother’s killer and narrows in on revenge, though violent local gangster Rico (Stephen Graham) has other ideas. Directed by Idris Elba.
