Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar

This series from the History Channel explores some of the most dangerous and deadly natural disasters of all time, including this episode on the crash of Air Florida flight 90 into the Potomac River. In the winter of 1982, Washington, D.C., was suffering a major snowstorm. Somehow, Washington National Airport remained open and Flight 90 took off, only to plummet into the Potomac minutes after takeoff. Using expert interviews with some accident experts, including NTSB investigator Rudolf Kapustin, this episode gets to the bottom of what happened to this doomed flight. There are also interviews with two survivors, Joe Stiley and Bert Hamilton, and two heroes, Lenny Skutnik and Roger Olian, who witnessed the crash and dove into the river to help save lives.
