Synopsis by Janiss Garza
This British-made film, based on the novel Sonia by Stephen McKenna, features one of Clive Brooks' earlier screen performances. Brooks plays David Standish, who travels the world and then decides to work his way through Oxford. He falls in love with the frivolous Sonia Dainton (Evelyn Brent), and they become engaged. They break up when it is discovered that Stanish is penniless. He goes to America and strikes it rich on the oil fields, but when he returns he discovers that Sonia has taken off for Germany. War breaks out, and her companion deserts her when she is held as an enemy alien. Standish rescues her from her dilemma, but she's as haughty as she ever was. He leaves her to enlist and is blinded in battle. Fortunately, Sonia has finally come down to earth and she reunites with Standish.
