Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Stage star Julia Arthur made her screen debut as Edith Cavell in this true story about a nurse in Belgium during World War I. Englishwoman Edith Cavell became a part of patriotic lore during the war -- she turned her back on a girlhood love to pursue nursing. Her duties took her to Belgium, which is where she was when war broke out. Because she helped her fellow Englishmen escape their enemies, she was thrown in prison, tried, and shot by the Germans. At the time this was a dramatization of current events -- the war was still going on when this film was released.
