Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Lovers Stella Derrick (Elsie Ferguson) and Dick Hazelwood (Vernon Steel) are kept apart by their financially ambitious parents. Stella's father (George Fitzgerald) sends her to India and virtually forces her to marry the wealthy Captain Ballantyne (Warner Oland). But Ballantyne turns out to be a drunken brute, and one day during a struggle in the Indian forest, Stella accidentally shoots him. She is put on trial, but the testimony of one of her former suitors gets her off. Stella returns to England, where Dick has become very successful. Still, their families are opposed to their union. But when they find out the truth about Ballantyne, they let the couple be. This film was adapted from the play by A.E.W. Mason.
