Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Reluctantly conceding to her parents' wishes, young Emma Rolfe (Valeska Surratt) becomes the second wife of elderly Dr. Charles Bovar (Eric Mayne). Neglected by her husband, Emma begins a-wandering and soon falls in love with a man closer to her own age. Secretly planning to elope with her lover, Emma is disillusioned to discover that he isn't interested in marriage. This setback, together with all of her other problems, leads the young wife to contemplate suicide. At the last moment she realizes she can't go through with it -- at which point the "Hand of Fate" intervenes, and Emma is killed by accident! A singularly pointless effort, Wife Number Two at least boasted a convincing performance (under the circumstances) by Valeska Suratt.
