Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Stuntman Dick Grace, a specialist in aerial "gags," is the whole show in Wide Open. Grace plays a former WWI flying ace who turns down an offer to work in his dad's airplane factory. Instead, he goes to work for a rival factory, falling in love with boss' daughter Grace Darmond. It turns out that the hero and heroine's fathers were former business partners who had a falling out over a stupid misunderstanding. But after rescuing the girl from a runaway plane, dauntless Dick is able to reunite the two old men. Audiences in 1927 tended to laugh at Wide Open, secure in the belief that Dick Grace must have been faking his more spectacular stunts -- except that he wasn't!
