Synopsis by Mark Deming

Desire leads several people in dangerous directions in this drama from Serbian filmmaker Oleg Novkovic. King (Uliks Dehmiu) is a former prizefighter who now makes his living pouring drinks at a tavern in Bor, a mining town fallen on hard times. When King meets Rosa (Hana Selimovic), a beautiful girl in her late teens, it's love at first sight and the two are soon engaged in a passionate affair. However, their relationship takes an unexpected turn when Rosa's mother Ruzica (Jasna Djuricic) returns after spending the better part of a decade in prison. Ruzica used to be married to King's trainer, but she murdered him and doesn't approve of her daughter's relationship with the older man. Rosa can't stand Ruzica's new boyfriend Beli (Boris Isakovic) and strikes up a dangerous friendship with Tiger (Marko Janketic), a young man with a ravenous appetite for drugs. Meanwhile, despite his feelings about Ruzica, King finds himself powerfully attracted to her, and is caught in a dangerous web of desire as he's involved with both mother and daughter. Beli Beli Svet (aka White White World) was an official selection at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.
