Synopsis by Augustine Chay
Red Saunders, Dennis Bovell, and Mykaell Riley feature prominently in director-co-writer Rubika Shah’s music documentary. It spotlights Rock Against Racism, which was formed in the U.K. in 1976 to alleviate the anti-immigrant hysteria and the growing popularity of the National Front’s political rhetoric. With a punk-inspired style that juxtaposes archival footage of race riots with fanzine excerpts and interviews with leading punk figures of the day (e.g., The Clash), it documents an iconic grassroots crusade.
