Synopsis by Janiss Garza

After he has gambled away money belonging to a secret Italian society called "the White Circle," banker Bernard Huddlestone (Spottiswoode Aitken) exits London to go into hiding. Accompanying him to the Scottish coast are his daughter Clara (Janice Wilson, sister of Lois) and Northmour (Harry B. Northrup), who is engaged to Clara. But when Frank Cassilis (John Gilbert) comes along, Northmour has a rival for Clara's affections. The White Circle finally tracks Huddlestone down and assassinates him. While Frank is tending to Clara, who has fainted, Northmour moves in to shoot him. But at the last moment he changes his mind and departs, leaving the couple alone. This moody picture, directed by Maurice Tourneur, was adapted from the Robert Louis Stevenson story, The Pavillion on the Links by its star, John Gilbert.
