Synopsis by Sean Hurley
One fifth of the series Where Eagles Fly, Nadia Stepanova: Buryatian Shaman documents the life and worship of one of the few remaining shamans from the seat of shamanism -- Siberia. Stalin-era religious persecution all but drove the ritualistic Siberian shaman tradition to extinction, leaving the battle to retain some connection to these ancient traditions to women like Nadia Stepanova. This video explores the philosophy and practices of the Siberian shamanistic religion, where the concept of balance and coexistence with the natural world are central.
